Janita Poko Lifts for New Zealand on the World Stage

A hard working Tokoroa resident, Janita Poko, has recently competed in the World Masters Games in Auckland, New Zealand. It saw hundreds of athletes come from all over the world with a lot of lifters crossing the Tasman from Australia.

She lifted in the 40-49 year age group with her weight category being 90+kg and ended the Games with a 4th placing. An added bonus is that she also retains this placing in her world ranking for her age and weight class.

It was great to see so many masters athletes representing New Zealand at the World Masters Games. Specifically for the sport of Olympic Weightlifting in New Zealand, Crossfit has been a game changer encouraging both young and old to join the sport.
